As a wee extra this Sunday, Dougie brought over a bottle Bushmills Whiskey, so began another tasting.

The bottle is quite unique, flat on one side and rounded on the other, easily spotted in the supermarket and all good Whisky shops. Nicola commented on one thing that she has not seen on any other bottles, ‘nutrition information’, i.e. how fattening this Whisky is, and we are sure that its the same values for all other Scotch’s, unless you know better.

Saturday 24th January 2009, for us, its ‘Burns Night’ round at the Ferguson household, the ‘Beastie’ is simmering away while Dougie awaited the arrival of our Jim, Dougie Bell, Mark, John and Trevor, all gathering here for The Whisky Boys Burns Supper 2009 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of our Bard, Mr. [...]

This is a tasting that both Jim and Dougie were looking forward to for a long long time, but thanks to Jim’s son-in-law for giving the Whisky Boys an unopened bottle of Lagavulin Whisky for us to enjoy.

Licensed in 1824, it is said that a malt Whisky was distilled at Craigellachie many, many, many years prior to its licensing .

The Macallan must be the best known Speyside/Highland and in the top three/four best known Distilleries in the World. (the other three/four are also Scottish Distilleries.)

Its the 3rd of January 2009 and this is our first tasting of the new year and all three of us are in attendance, Jim,Dougie and Nicola.
Lets get down to business and do what the Whisky Boys do best, taste and detail our comments and recommendations.

Bowmore Whiskey - Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 12 Year Old.
As you would expect the distillery is situated on the shores of Loch Indaal on the unspoilt and stunning Hebridean Isle of Islay.  A more beautiful and tranquil place I have yet to find.
