Nicola and I thought it would be a good idea if we gave you a little background about ourselves.
My name is Jim Coleman; I am married and have three delightful granddaughters. I live in Central Scotland on the outskirts of Falkirk.
I am 60 years old so I am no spring chicken, but would like to think I’ve aged well, mellowed and matured, just like a fine dram (not sure if my wife would agree with this description, but this is my website and my fantasy.
Over my 60 years I have worked in a variety of environments, starting as a telegram boy, ships agent, and then within the motor trade, I’m now working in the Care industry.
Throughout these swiftly passing years I have had one constant love in my life……. Whisky. We all appreciate there is no such thing as a bad Whisky, however:
- some should be respected more than others
- some should be cherished
- and some should just be guzzled
I also thoroughly enjoy cooking and selecting appropriate wines to compliment my meals, but by far my interest and collection of Whisky (for scientific research only!) is my greatest joy.
I am really looking forward to interacting with you all on your honest opinions and recommendations. Some topics we hope to cover regularly are:
- Malt of the month
- Best supermarket buy of the month
- Best online buy of the month
- Distilleries visited
- Stories and tales of Scotland
- Whisky recipes / Cocktails
- Jim & Dougies recommendations and recent tastings
“Personally I think the Government should list Whisky as one of the essentials for healthy living after all it is the Water of Life” quote by Jim in his lounge (2008)
