Glenlivet Whisky - 15 Year Old Single Malt Whisky “French Oak Reserve”
So we gathered around Jim’s dining table with a bottle of The Glenlivet sitting in front of us, it was approx 8 pm on Thursday 27th May 2010, and an enjoyable tasting was to be in store for us.
Our dram for the evening is The Glenlivet 15 Years Old Single Malt Whisky “French Oak Reserve” 40% Alc/vol.
Glenlivet Distillery,

Owners, Chivas Brothers (Pernod Ricard)
Selective maturation in new French Oak casks made from Limousin Oak, this mixture of Scotch Whisky and French Oak gives and ideal expression of the Auld Alliance.
The cork was withdrawn and drams were poured.
The tasting
Colour…Melted toffee
Nose…Rich with honey and toffee, cant wait to have a sip.
Taste…Warming wood and malt with a smooth vanilla edge, complex and a joy to drink.
Finish…A woody creaminess is very evident in this long finish.
Score…3 corks
Nicola’s tasting
Nose…Aniseed spice, full to burst with sweet notes.
Taste…warm and delicious with surprising fruity flavours, ( sweet fruits/tropical )
Finish…Enjoyably long and very very tasty.
Score…3 corks
That was very good and the other benefit is that this excellent dram is available in most supermarkets, and Jim hopes to continue to have a bottle of this dram in his cabinet.
If you have guests for dinner, then one thing you can do to impress them and show that you favour their friendship is to offer them a 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve.
Check out The Glenlivet website and indeed go and get yourself a bottle , and remember to tell them The Whisky Boys sent you.

[...] Whiskyboys also like the dram, though find more wood than I did. They all found it sweet, though. [...]
