Dalwhinnie Whisky – 15 Year Oldf Single Highland Malt 43% VOL also known as the gentle spirit.
Today we opened a bottle of Dalwhinnie 15 year old. A good measure was poured into Jim’s newly purchased whisky tasting glasses, Jim taking a splash more water than Dougie.
We both sat down to savour and review this 15 year old. We both agreed that this is aptly named as the gentle spirit being aromatic and lightly peaty on the nose. This malt is remarkably smooth and slightly peaty on the palate with a soft lingering finish.

The Dalwhinnie distillery sits at over 1000 ft at the Drumochter Pass (one of the highest in Scotland) and the name Dalwhinnie is Gaelic for (The Meeting Place).
As part of the main drovers route this pass was used for much smuggling of the Amber Nectar.
